Sydney, May 18. Business on the stock And share market has been free from anything exciting. Investors were more numerous thani selieis. Bank and company shares were steady. The mining market throughout .the week was characterised by a fair amount of activity; but, with the exception of Junctions, there was no strong movement in prices. Proprietary closed with buyers at 495, Junctions 745. Gold Lake View and Boulder East had a .good advance consequent on reports of excellent development?, and closed strong. The exciteimnt of tha week was the jump in Bank of Englands (Coolgardie) from 28s to 50«, closing at 535. - Great Mercury (New Zealand) are quoted with buyers at 53 and sellers at 7s ; KapaiVermonts, sellers 8a 6d. / , . Perth, May 18. Brisk business is doing in mining stocks—in fact, so remarkable is the amount that the exchanges are now open at night, miners buying heavily. Splendid specimens have bsen brought in from the Lard Caunside mine, where a vein of silioiouß ironstone has been met with. The formation is very wide, and'carries about an ounce

to the ton. In the .Boulder North Extended the .stone much resembles Ivanhoe stone, and carries fair gold. . '
