Messrs Dalgety an» Company (Limited) report having held a clearipg .sale for Mr John Aitchison, at the Island farm, Waikouaiti, onr Friday, Bth May Mr Aitchison's lease having expired the whole of his stock and implements were for Unreserved sale, and thia. together with the fact that his utock were widely known to ba really first-class, brought a very large number of buyers together— the largest gathering seen at any sale in the district for years. Tho sheep were ia excellent condition, and under good competitiOQ
realised good prices. The dairy cows and young Cattle were all well bred and in good order, ana although buyers had come from long distances to ■ecure them none of them could compete with the local. buyew. The hones if anything commanded the most attention. They were a really splendid lot, and as they were well known to be exceptionally good workers local buyers would not allow , them to leave the district, althoug+i very keenly competed for. The sale on the whole was considered by those present to be one of the best Jaeld in the district for many years. Crossbred wethers sold at 10s Id ; do ewes, four and r six-tcotb, 8s 10d : do two-tooth, 7s 93 ; do, aged, 5s 6d ;do lambs, small, 5b 8d ; ta.<- s, 2ls; dairy cows, in full milk and at calving, £7 to £5 12s* 6d ; beiferi, £5 to £4 12s 6d ; dairy cow?, spring calverp; £5 2b fld to £3 5a ; two year ftn. 18 month-old heifers, £3 2s 6d to £2 15s ; do steers, £3 2% ; yearling steers and heifers, £2 5s to dEI 16a ; draught mares, four to six years old, £26 to £22 ; do aged, £16 10s to £15 ; do geldings, »ged, £21 : hunting horse Coolgardie, £18; spring cart mar*, £21; implements, harness, &c^at very satisfactory prices.
