The golden sunbeams, lingering, glisten Upon the Tuieri Itiver, And tha hrightneaa of the landscape, shadow^, Seems on the waveo to quiver. While the autumn tints- that mellowing glow Upon the varying plain Add to the peaceful scene a beauty deep To make oae linger fain, And breathe the peace that, sheltering, dvelleth Enshrined *moag sun-kissed hills. That towering clasp the mighty river, Fed by the mount »in rilla ; And feel the strong deep-sounding water ho tea ' In pympathy with theo, Aa the deep current glides tho bridge beneath, And flow* on to tha sea. — M.
