Aruowtown, April 25 —About four or five weeks ago I stated that the-Kawarau was marked out all the distance from Cromwell up to Gibbaton, bat it was only this week that tbe first claim was applied for in the Wakstipu goldfields district. The claim is located near Victoria Bridge, and more applications will no doubt be made. At the last Warden's Court, Ariowtown, a water right for 100 heads west of Doolan's Creek was granted to Mr W. H. Cutten, of DunediD, to work the old Cambrian Flat, ne*r Victoria Bridge. It is reported that Mr W. J. Farrell has floated one of his Macetown ventures on the London market.
