THE RELIEF COMMITTEE.
BiiUNNER^ON, April 22. The Central Relief Committee met to-day. A large number of outoide representatives were present from Grey to Rceffcon. It was decided to appoint temporary truatseg, to kesp office only until permanent trustees were appointed. Ten prominent men were nominated, and on a ballot being taken the following were elected : — The Mayors of Brunßer, Grojruouth, and Hokitika, Messrs Kcrr, M.L.C., Guinness, and O 'Regan, M H R's., and Bisbop, manager of the oonl mine. ' They are to keep charge of the fund only until the other centres or Parliament decide as to its permanent disposal. Wellington, April 23.
At a meeting of the Brunner Relief Committee to-day the Mayor stated that Wellington's contribution, including donations sent direct to. Brnnnerfcon, would amount to close on' £3000. The Premier had informed him he would convene a public meeting in Wellington to take steps to appoint parmauent truuteos and make the fund a colonial one.
