S Sale op Work.— A meat successful sale of work and produce in connection with the Palmerstou Presbyterian Church was held in the Town Hall on Wednesday last. The best proof of tho success of the sale was the fact that the proceeds netted! were— about £108. In the evening a social was held, and the hall w&g taxed ta Its utmost. 'In fact, once a person got in the crowd it was no easy matterto get out. During the evening songs ware contributed by Mrs Neale, Miss Roboptsos, Messrs George Hosie and D. Findlay ; Miss Horan acting as accompanist to the satisfaction of all. Dr Neale gave a cello solo iv a manner which shows that he hag thorough command of that instrument. All the vocalists, were warmly applauded for the way in which they rendered their songs. The Palmer' ston Brass Band,, under the baton of Mr John Appleby, rendered several selections during tha evening, and contributed in no small degree to the j enjoyment of the social. The ladies' sewing guild ! is to be congratulated .on the excellent result of the year's work. I am sure I am only expressing, the feelings o£ all in the valley when I say that Mr Clark and his family have in their sad bereavement the heartfelt sympathy of everyone who knows them.
