WEEKLY MARKET REPORT.

Messrs Moiutzson and Hopkin, Dunedin, report (wholesale) as follows for week ending April 29, 1896. All quotations subject to market fluctuations :— ■ *

Bußin>-ss during the week has been very good, especially in oats. We have a big demand, and can place all coming forward. We can place' at once 10,000 sacks. We have also inquiry far Danish and long Tartarians for seed purposes. We would also ask farmers when Bending samples always to put a pi ice on them, as buyers do not feel inclined to make offers.

Wheat : We quote beat velvet 3s 7d to 3a 8d ; beßt ' uscans, 3a 6d to 3* 7d ; red chaff, 3s 4d to 3s 5d ; fowls' wheat, 2s lOd to 3s. Outs : Prime mill, ing, Is 9d to Is lOd ; bright short feed, Is 8 J tola Bjd ; ordinary feed, Is 7d to Is 7Jd. Barley: Feed sorts are quoted 2-i 2d to 2s 4d ; malting, f >om 3s 6d to 4s. - Flour: We quote £9 10* Oatmeal in 25*, £9 10b Pearl barley, £12 10a. Bran, £3 10s. Pollard, £4 ss. Nelson hops : New season's on "the market, and am quoted at lOd. We just landed' 20 bales from Nelson. Potatoes : Derwents, £2 10s to £2 15s. Chaff: Prime quality, weli-cut oaten sheaf, 50s to 62s 6d. Ryegrass: Farmers' lots, 2s to 2s lOd ; machined, 3\s 3d to 4s. Cocksfoot, 3d to 3Jd for 161b teed. We have' a big demand, and did large business during the week. Linseed : New crop not to hand yet. Pressed straw, 32s 6d. Clover hay, £3. We receive r^bbitflkins, hide 9, sheepskins, and tallow, and return highest market values. Hides wanted, at 2£-i to 3d per lb for good quality. We have sold this week a large quantity of hides and skins at satisfactory prices, and have a good demand to supply for orders. We hold weekly sales.

Messrs Bemshardt and Co. report as follows :— There is no new feature to chronicle in this market, prices being unchanged but firm ; while supplies show a slight increase on last week's. With the advent of cold weather lately-caught skins will show a decided improvement in quality and consequently enhanced values. To-day's mail, we are pleased to say, has biougbt us additional orders, so that we are inclined to take a hopeful view of the coming sea-on.
