A meeting of creditors in the estate of Hugh Cameron Christie, of Balclutha, storekeeper, was held on Thursday afternoon, when a resolution agreeing to accept 6s 6d in tba pound was confirmed. Country Sales — Donald Reid and Co. held a clearing sale, on account of the trustees in the estate of the lat« Thomas Brown, at Braid's farm, Otago Peninsula, on Monday last, the 20th inst., when the goodwill of farm lease and the whole of the farm stock (comprising dairy cows, hordes, young stock, implements, Ac), were disposed of. There wai a large attendance of farmer*, dairymen, gmziers, and others, and for dairy cows newly cjlved or close to c-lving there was very brisk competition. Heifers of milking strains were also in good request add secured attention. The horaes, which were favourably known in the locality, were keenly competed for,' and made good prices. Competition in consequence was not exceedingly lively, and tbe saled effected were at prices in favour of buyers. Taieri Stock Fair and Horse Sale.— Donild Reid and Co report having held their foitnfghtly sale at the Taieri Sal 3 ards (Allauton)on Tuesday, the 2lst inst Theje was a moderate attendee* of farmers, graziew, and others present, and under fairly brisk competition most of the entry, which consisted of cattle and sheei> only, was disposed. About 80 head of cattle were j'arJed, including one lot of really splendid large framed bullocks in forward condition ; indeed, the cattle all over were better than the average, and deserved a better sale.' Sheepskins are plentiful, and find buyers at most satisfactory figures. Catalogues on Tuesday were large, and met with the usual keen competition. Butchers' best green crossbreds fetch 2s 8d to 3s ; medium do, Is lOd to 2s 6d ; full-woolled eroes.breds (if clean), 5d to 5Jd per lb ; falleu ciosabreds, 4Jd to 5d ; and good merinos, 4 1 to 4Jd. Rabbitskins.— Tne quantity and quality is now improving, and prices are fiim. Best autumns are worth 7d to Bid, summers 5Jd to 6Jd, small aud inferior 24 to 4Jd. Hides are firm at la'.e rates— viz., best ox hides, carefully taken off, 3d to 3Jd per lb ; medium weights, 2}d to 2fd ; iuferior, ljd to 2idTallow.— There is no alteration in the tone of this market. All consignments are readily placed. Grain — Wheat : The Ute demand is well sit<taine>l, and quotations on a par with th >se of last week. Oats : A considerable improvement h*s been noticeable during the past w ek. The demand for all sorts being keen, and- extra prime or seed samples being in strong- request, farmers evince a strong inclination to hold for a further i\se. Seed sorts, Is 8d to Is 9d ; prime milling, Js 7id to Is B}d; good stout feed, Is 7d to Is 7id; medium, Is 6d to Is 6Jd per bushel (sacks eidra). Barley : In this line there is very little business passing. Offerings are almost confined to medium, malting, an.l feed samples, for which the demand is limited. Those who are holding thes- qualitieg for better pi ices are probably making a mistake, for it is as a rule difficult to jet manufacturer to eive orders for the lower graces when the better skins are available. OF SHEEP AT OTAMA STATION. , Measrs Dalgety and Company (Limited) report having held a clearing sale on account of Mr F. W. Ibbotoon at Otama station on Thursday, April 16. The sale was held in consequence of the expiration of the leases of the runs, which have been divided into smaller holdings, and these were offered for sale at Gore on the lltb ia»t. The sheep - were in very fine condition, more especially the cro»abreds, which were admitted on all hands to be a really first-clas3 lot. Unfortunately the day of the sale wus very wet, but in spite of the rain a very Jarge number of buyers was prei&nt from the surrounding districts, and also from the Taieri.
