LAND BOARD.

Tho weekly meeting of the Land Board, held on Wednesday afternoon, was attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (ohiof coniruisaionor), W. Dallas, H. Clark, J Duncan, and A. M'Kerrow.

Rock and Pill in. —Mr James M»nn renewed bis applicatiou to be allowed to acquire section 23, block f , Hock and Pillar district, and it was agreed to permit him to acquire the section on lease in perpetuity at a capital value of 21s lOd per acre with valuation, £15 Bs, fur fencing. Kunow.— It was agieed to grant to Mr Joseph Scott a yearly license, under clause 116 of the act, to occupy the quarry reserve in the centre of section 11, block 111, Kurow district, at a rental of 10*. Glrnomaru.— Ranger Fraser submitted a report upon section 57, block VI, Gleuomaru district, lately surrendered by Mr George Bemey, and It was decided that the section bo opened on village settlement conditions »6 formerly. Mamototo — An application, under clause 114 of the act, by Mr S. E. M'Carthy, on boha>f of Mr John Duncan, for 150 acies upon Run 219, adjoining section 7, block 11, Maniototo district, held by him, was declined until it should be decided how to deal with the run in question, and a similar decision was come to in regard to Mr McCarthy's application, on behalf of Mra Sarah Fennessy, for an area of 250 acres upon the same run. Upper Taikri —The application of Mr Thomaß Tatefor Bection 18, block I, Upper Taieri district, was declined, the section having been recommended for purchase, and the applications of Messrs D. M'Lean and James Ilerlihy to be allowed topurchasefor cash sections lGand 17, block IV, Upper Taieri (in connection with which a report from the warden at Naseby was considered) were declined. An application by Emily J. ana John W. Blukely for ptrmUsion to acquire sections 13 and 11, block IV, and sections 18 and 19, block I, Upper Taieri district, in order to provide winter country for their small grazing Runs 204 and 20 ia, was declined. An application by Mr John Reid for a grazing license over the tailings reteivo adjoining section 20, block I, Upper 'Jaieri, embracing about 18 acres, was rofened to the chief am vayor for a report. Kuriwao. — Hanger Fraser forwarded a report upon quarry reeerve, section 2, block VIII, Kuriwao dl trict, and it wai decided to offer the section l>y auction for yearly license, under clause 116 of the act, at an upset of 3d per annum. Lak« Wanaka. — Gonsidctfttion was deferred of a report from Hanger Mackenzie upon Mr R. MD. ugnll'x applicttion for an area o( 4 50 acros between Bish >p's B»y 'ai-d the numih of the Mivtukituki river, and also upon Mr Her. ry Mackay's aupl : cation for 100 acres at Damper Bay, Lake Wanaka.

Rock and Pillar.— l ho Chief Surveyor forwarded a plan of the subdivision, of sections 26, 41, and 42a, block VII, Rock and Pillar district. —It was agreed to allow Mr Thomas Crichton to acquire section 53, undor clause 115 of the act, on lease iv perpetuity at a capital value of 21* 10d. to include loading ; and to set apart section 59 as a quarry reseive. and to recommend that tections 51, 52, 51, 55, 50, 57, and 58 ba set apa«t and declared as village homestead allotments vn lease in pmpatuity at a cayital value of 21s lOd per acre, the applicants to be limited to one section.
