MOONLIGHT.

Octoher I.— The weather continues very favourable for fanners getting the B-ied iv the ground, aud most of them have all their oats sown and are noar .preparing for other .crops. Rabbit Canning.— Tbe Dunback Rabbit Canning Factory is in full swing again, and an express runs from hero regularly, taking what rabbit*) it can get, but aa yet there are not many trapping abont hero. If the farmers could only realise that every rabbit caught mow is better than a dozen later on, they would at once go to work and trap, for the busy season will soon be on, when shearing, dipping, and harvesting must be attended to, and consequently vary little time can be spared for destroying rabbits. Amusements —A very s iccessful concert and ball was held in the schoolhouse on Friday night in aid of the school funds. Too chairman of the school committee occupied the chair, and after making a few appropriate remarks the concert was commenced, song«, duets, recitations, etc., being rendered in capital style by ths respective poiforraers, and beiog thoroughly appreciated by th» audience— several having to respond to encore 3. Consideration for your space makes mo l*y down tho rule not to patticularisc individually in reporls ff concerts, but I c*nnot hMp saying that Mis* Jane Jones, a little girl of som-j nine or ten mi minors, is deservedly worthy of mention. She give a recitation in a very creditable mamu'i' for a child of euch tender years, an I I hope to see more of the scholars attending school come forward and lot the public sue what they oin do. The Chairman desiroa me to thank thos-i who helped to make the concert a fjiicoess, and aUn Mies ilighet, who acted as occ-impanht. When lhe concert nrrgramrne waa got through the room wai e'eared for dancing, which was kept up with spirit till daylight began to make its appearance. Mr W. Eraser acted as M.0., and the musfc was supplied by Miss Highet (pianoforte) and Messrs H Fraser and T. Gately (violin).
