Notes from Lyell. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Lyell. September 20.
Lyell Creek —The mine manager reports :— "Th>i new make of stove mentioned in my last repirt is 3ft in width, and contains payable gold. In about a foot on the footwall side the reef is of poor quality yet. The atone that wa#in the drive before the new make cams in has widened out greatly, but, aa there is uo sign of the banging wall, I cannot tell the sizs of it. Gold can be seen in the htone at times, but I don't consider it payahle so far. The level has been driven Oft (five days), inakin? the total length 89ft." Cofksp-urow Drodeij —The Timinger n-ports :— "For the last ihiee diiys we have been dredging the silt out of our paddock at Flax Bush face. I expect we will be fmi«hc 1 cleaning the paddock out to morrow evening, and will fctart dredging on the washdirt ou Monday morning." >
