No rain has fallen since midday, but further good fall* are expected in the western and central districts. September 18. The rainfall out wast is small, but there are indications of further rain-prodncing disturbances. September 19. The weather is cold and wintry, and mere rain is thieateniog. Good fhowera fell in Sydney over a hrgs area of country yettcrdiy September 23. The weather is again very cold and frosty, with snow on tha mountains. A gale ia blowing along the south ooast, and communication is interrupted with Gabo Island. Tbe laßt report from that island stated that the lighthouse-keeper was in danger. The Thetis has returned from a search for the uncharted rock on which it was stated the Oatterthun struck. A heavy sea was running in the locality, and she failed to discover the rook. Melbourne, September 23. The T»lune, from tho Bluff, reports tempestuous weather, with heavy eea, extending along the Tasmanian coast and causing interference with the shipping. Brisbane, September 18. Heavy rains have fallen over a large area, and there are indications that the drought has broken up. Water was badly needed in Bu'sbane and (-nburbs, and in many instaocos the residents had to purchase water. Mr Wragge announces that another monBooual disturbance appears to be gradually approaching from the Java Sea. Before it operates, however, he expeoto that a short spell of dry weather will follow the present rains.
