Would Come Cheaper.
Some years ago a regiment of volunteers was encamped on the outskirts of a country town. Alhod^ those whose curiosity led them to the encampment; were three hardy labourers. Aa the throe were strolling round the camp they came scrose a large tent, over which was written the following notice: — "Dinnera-^aa much es ycu Jike for a shilling." Beirjg hungry, tho three weut in to dine. They began their meal, and cfter five other parties had come in, dined, and left again, they were still busy eating I Prenenlly a young man, e\idently one of the attendants, c»me up and, tapping ono of them lightly on the shoulder, said in a low voice : " Hero, you chaps, my governor soot me to say that if you like to go now he won't charge you anything for what you have already eaten."
