THE VALLEY OF DREAMS BY THE SEA.
Out in the dop'.hs of tho past lies a valley of dreams by the Eca, It shines like U>» evening star, and gives all my life back <o ; Nobody knows uf the place, but to me it seems ever so far, And often I'm wafttd away o'er the tides of this purple bar. I know not the track that I take, but my fancy bears me away, And I see thu kind friends that have gone, aud hear the kind words they say. Oh ! land ia the realms of the oast, oh ! wonderful Imd of tho free, I am lon^uiß again to teat in that valley of dreams by the sea 1 Oh Hand in the realms of the east, oh! wonderful land of the free, I am longing again to rest in that valley of dreams by the sea ! llow often we meet and we speak In the womb of this sweet, sad zone, And only in droams can it be that you love me I again, mine own ; I know I am with you no more, and you are some worlds away, So I lung to rc-fc on that shore, and I'll wait till the close of the day ; For there in my dreams you're the same, and you hold out your ha<>ds as of old, And the words are echoed again that once long ago were told. Ho* often in fancy I stray and your vision cohies back to mo, And wo livo in the days that aie past in th»t valley of dreums by the se3. flow often in faucy I stray and your vision comen back to me, And we live in the diys that are past in that valley of dreams by the eea I Let me dream of that land evermore, where I hold jou and love you again, Where shadow and hovrnw are o'er, and our hearts are free from all pain ; For there in that garland of rest you havepk<3gcd tn be mino as before, And I hear the fond w ords you apeak, and feel yonr s oft breath as of yore. The links that bound us are lost, yet somehow you come in my sleep, And we wand<-r away to that land o'er the waves of the billowy deep. I'm tiied of thii life in the wesfc, and I'm longing to go now to thte. For there we will part nevermore, in that valley of dreams by the sea.
