Messrs Thouas Patehson and Co., fruit and produce agents. Manse street, report for tho week ending September 25 :— Fruit. — The market is barely supplied. Owing to increased duty and uncertainty still prevailing; as to probable result of the tariff, shipments are very light, and as practically no local fruit) is obtainable prices will rale high for some timo to come. Apples 10s to 14s ; locally-grown, 7s to 8a 6d. Oranges (Sydney), 6a to 7b ; Tahiti, none. Lemons, IDs. MunJarins, 8s to lOs. Sevilles, 10b. Pincj, 13s to 15a. Bananas scarce ; not sufficient for local demand. Passion fruit, 8s 6d. Cocoanuts, 10s. Peanuts, 3i«3. Walnuts, 5Jd to 6d. Dates, figs, Ac. in stock. Prouuck.— Errs plentiful. We can place any quantity. Fresh butter, 7d to 9d ; prime salt, 7d to,Bd. Bacon: Roll, 5d to 5Jd. Hams, 6Jd to 7d. Pigs, 3d. Cheese : Farmers' hardly saleable ; factory, id to 4|d ; Akaroa, 3Jd to 4d. Honey, 3}d to 4d. Beeswax, wanted. Potatoes { Derwents, northern 35s to 40a and have inauiry, southern 25s to 355 ; kidneys, £2 to £2 10s. ' Onions : Mel. bourne, 7s 6d ; Canterbury, 43 to 6s 6d. Poultry has good demand, and prices firmer all round. Quotations subject to market fluctuations.
