OTAGO CENTRAL RAILWAY LEAGUE.
A meeting of tbe executive of the Otag« Central Kail way League was held, at th« Chamber of Cowmerea en Monday night, 111 W. Ban on prf siding.
The following constitution and rules of the league were adopted :—
1. The name of the association shall bo The Otago Central Railway League. 2. The league t-h«ll consist of an unlimited number of members of either sex.
3. A contribution of not less than Is per annum shall coiiKtifc'ite membership, and a roll of all me-nbcrs shall be kept by the secretary. 4. The objects of tho league shall be to further and watch over the advancement of the Otago Cuutral railw*y, and to urge the f ull exponditura of all votes of money mado by Parliament in that bohalf.
5. Ap*rt from the special object* of its existence the league shall be of an entiroly non-political character.
6. Tho president of the league shall be the mayor of Dunedin for the timo being. At the annual meeting of the league, which shall be held at such time as the executive may appoint, a report on tho result of the year's work Bhall bo presented, after which ao executive cominitteo. consisting of not more than 20 mombeiS shall be elected, such committee to appoint tha administrative officers, consißtu g of a chairmaDj vice-ch-iirmnn, secretary, treasurer, finance com* mitteo, and other neces-ary eub-oommittocs. The secretary shall be paid such salary as maj bj deeMed upon by the executive committee. The executive committee shall have power to fill up any vacaucies occurring during the year. The executive committee shall meet monthly at the league's offise for the transaction of general or Kpr cul nusiness, and hold special meetinga at such other times as tha oxecutive officers may find to be necessary.
It was decided to have the constitution and rules printed. Mr Sx-igo moved— "That the league expreases to the Government its satisfaction that they have so promptly decided the question of the permanent route of the railway, recently raised, as such decision removes what might have proved an obstacle to the rapid completion of the line." Mr A. Bathoate seconded the motion, whioa was carried.
