CANTERBURY AGRICULTURAL.

(From Otm Own Cobbespondbnt.) Chbistchurch, July 10. Tb.9 weather goes from bad to worse. 'This is the long-Ttt spell of suob. weather as we have been been experiencing ever known in Canterbury, and to-day's snowfall is thoheßrte&TTtar-* 17 or 18 yeaw. To-night it is freezing hard. Fioek-ovmers in back and high country haye brought their sheep as low down as posMble ; but all grass is buiied in snow, and hundreds ot thousands of sheep havo been without food for a fortrjighfc or longer, whilflfc large numbers must have been smothered in the saow. Lakes Ellesraere and Forsyth are very high, and the sea is too high to allow th 9 contractors to leb them out, co that jiumbera of settlors in the locality are flooded out;. All the rivera lire very high, and if a wet nor'-wester comes the consequence to the adjoining country will be serious. Oa the Peniusula several immense landslips have taken place.

Everywhere stacks have been soaked, and as wet has spoiled the grass, roots, and fodder crops, feed will be very icarco. Sherp are still improving, but to-day's gathering at Addiogfcon devoted most; of thiir at'ention and energy to snowballing. Great disappointment it felt at the prices realised by rams in Sydney, though breeders were well warned that they could expeob nothing moro for ordinary aud inferior sheep.
