PROSPECTING IN WESTLAND.
STAFroRD, May 14. At an enthusiastic public meeting it was stated that recent prospecting has proved the exibtenco of payable goldficlds ovor a large area of country until now untried, whida canuot be worked until a dirtiu tunnel is constructed, and the meeting
urged the Government to construct a tunnel, aa the openiug of the field will solve the unemployed difficulty in Weatland.
REPORTED RICH FIVD. Gisnonifß, May 11.It ia rumoured that a rich find of gold has been made in this district, but tho locality and tbc names of the finders are not yet disclosed.
NEWS FROM COOLGARDIE. Pkrth, May 12. The first big ormhing of stone from tht Great Boulder mine has taken place. Ons hundred and twenty-eight tons yielded 1298.zo£gcld. May 13. A reef tbickly-studded with coawe gold has been discovered near M'G-regorti olainr, Mount Kitherino. The specimens, about 501b weight, are enormously rich, and are caloolated to contain one-third gold. The find is important, as it proves the continuation of the line of reef. May U. Splendid battery stone has been struck in the Londonderry mino at the 100 ft level. It I* rumoured that the famous shoot; first sUucfe lias been picked np. Shares rose, and large sales have taken place. The stone, though good, is not of a sensational value.
