October 9.— The Rev. A. Begg continued his course of lectures on "The Book of Genesis " on Sunday evening, a large number being again present. The" lecture waa an able one, but I am afraid rt was a little too far advanced for the intellectual capacity of the greater part of the con* ■greeation. Walking Show. — The annual horse parade was i\& on Saturday la3t, and was the means of drawing a large number of farmers togethpr. Five draught entires and three thoroughbreds were shown, so farmers will have plenty to choose from. As to the quality of the stock shown there seems to be differences of .opinion, but St. Alexander and Don Pedro seemed to be the principal favourites, in their respective classes. After the parade the annual meeting of the Farmers' Association was held.

M.U.I.O.O.F.— The members of the local lodge held their 24th anniversary in the Atheuseum HaH on Friday night, there being a good attendance. A detailed report of the proceedings will be sent for next issue, so I need not say more at present. Cheese Factory.— l understand that the factory is about to open for the season. There seems to be quite a boom in the dairying line just now, and, if nil reports are true, the forthcoming season will prove the most successful, so far as the milk supply is concerned, siace the industry was inaugurated. The Weather.— We have been enjoying really fine weather of late, but fanners are beginning to cry out for rain. No doubt a little rain now would do a lot of pood, as both gardens and paddocks seem somewhat parched.
