WOOL, GRAIN. AND SEED REPORT.
Messrs William E. Reynolds and Co., Siaf« ford street, report for the week ending 21st February as follows : — The weather has been a little more favourable for harvest wcrk the last few days, and there is every prospect of a continuance of same, which we hope may be realised. Wheat. — we have absolutely nothing of interest to report, and as new grain is not yet forward we quote as last : Prime old grain up to 2s lOd ; good ordinary, 2s 8d to 2s 9d ; fowl feed, 2s 2d to 2s 6d.
Oats. — Pending the arrival of the new grain we cannot quote these with any certainty, or fortell prices likely to rule, save that they will be lower. What little prime old grain is available has inquiry at up to Is Hid in small lines. New (nominally), Is lOJd ; new, ofF colour, Is 9id ; Danish, la B£d to 9d ; but, so far, only a very few lines have come in, and the market cannot be said to ba established at these prices.
Ryegrass. — A large quantity of samples are now coming in, and it is rather difficult to find buyers for it all, especially inferior and dirty lines. Buyers are practically independent, and do not, therefore, care to offer except in some cases where a particular line suits them. We quote ; Prime machine dresßed, 3s 3d; extra good, 3s (id; good machine-dressed, 3s ; cheap farmers' lines, 23 lOJd : dirty, from Is 7d to 2a 7£d. Wool.— Peading the fourth sale of the series, which will be held to-morrow, it is needless to say much here, but prospects are by no means bright, and we expect that even lower prices than those of last sale will rule. We are offering a very fair catalogue, and take this opportunity of thanking those who have go cordially supported us during the season., '
Chaff.— This is rather easier, owing to' large quantities coming in, but prime is selling well at up to £3 15s ; other sorts have less attention at from £2 to £3 per ton. Potatoes.— Market is rather fuller than it should be and consequently prices are easier, best only bringing up to £3.
