A Christchurch paper of the 14th inst. says :— "There were a few lines of grain offered at Rangiora yesterday, but almoßt all the wheat submitted was damp or green, and quite valueless for milling purposes. The samples prove that some of the farmers will have cause to regret having threshed from the stook, and it would be well for others to take warning by their experience. One of the principal grain buyers informed our correspondent that Is 6d per bushel was the full value of the wheat in question, and only one line offered him was worth 2s per bushel. Oats were quoted at from Is 5d to Is Gd per bushel. The buyers state that the oats are turning out well, but the wheat threshed so far is unsatisfactory, both in yield and quality."
