Press Association — By Telegraph — Copyright. London, February 7. The wool sale? have closed, prices being firm at about a par with the opening rates. Medium to good staple wools were very firm, while the best of merino, faulties, and heavy greasy were at par to 5 per cent, below the closing rates oE December. At the sales for the season just closed 2G9.000 bales were catalogued, of which the Home trade took 89,000 biles, Continental buyers 139,000 bales, and United States buyers 1000 bales. The quantity held over amounted to 4000 bales. The New Zealand Land Association (Limited) have received the following cablegram from their London office: — "Wool: The sales closed this day at the level of last sales, except that scoured merino (super), scoured merino (medium and inferior), fine greasy scoured and washed crossbred, medium washed and scoured crossbred, and greasy merino j lambs (medium and inferior) are £d lower ; and greasy merino (medium and inferior) and medium greasy crossbred are par to £d per 1b | lower ; coarse greasy crossbred and greasy merino lamb 3 (super) are par to -|d higher, j Crossbred lambs : Market easier. The total quantity sold during the past sales is 234-, 000 bales, of which 139,000 bales have been taken for the Continent and 1000 bales for America It is estimated that 40,000 bales have been held over for future disposal." Messrs Dalgety and Co. (Limited) have received the following cablegram from their head office, dated London, 7th February: — "Wool sales closed firm, without further change. Out of the net quantity available for sale, some 91,000 bales have been sold for Home consumption, 135.000 bales for the Continent of Europe, 1050 bales for America, leaving 39,000 bales to be carried forward to the next sales."
