February s.— We are still growling at the weather. Between wind and rain the grain crops are having a bad time. Several farmers have begun harvesting. The heavy wind of Saturday night and Sunday did some damage in the way of shaking and laying the crops. Court Cases. — To-day, before Mr J. J. Ramsay, J.P., a first offender, for drunkenness, was convicted and discharged. Before Messrs J. J. Ramsay and T. Foster, J.P's., the defendant in an assault case was fined £2 and costs. It was reported some time ago that a conBtable was to be stationed here, but there is no sign of his appearance yet. Jt is time that something was done in the way of closing hotels on Sundays, for here Sunday is often the busiest day in some of them.
