SHAG VALLEY.
July 15.— During tlie past few weeks extensive alterations, improvements, and additions have been made to the local dairy factory, consequent on cream separator machinery being added. Work is being pushed on, and I understand that Mr Duncan, the proprietor, will be ready for the reception of milk in about three weeks' or a month's time. It is to be hoped his enterprise will be well rewarded by a large increase in "the number of milk suppliers. Arrangements will also be made for customers getting their skim milk back, which to some is a great consideration. Palmerston District High • School.— This school was reopened to-day after having been closed for three weeks on account of measles. The examination comes on about the end of the month, and these enforced holidays will, I fear, tell a sad tale in the percentage of passes; but time will tell. 111 1 Weather.— Theweather continues very wintry, rain, cold ''winds, and frost giving us a continual change.
