MOUNTAIN MIST.

When Day has sought his rest, And Twilight gray Has paved the way For sombre Night, the mountain mist, In silence, springs To life and wings His flight, far up the giddy height. Past valleys, clothed in forest dress, The white mist creeps Along, and peeps Into the hollows filled with shadeDeserted by The moonlit sky — Forsaken by the light night breeze. Past brawling strea?ns, through frosty air, With footsteps slow Across the snow He wanders, till the highest peak Lies at his feet. — 'Tis here he'll greet The lirst rays of the rising sun. —Charles Rule.
