Thomas Paterson and Co., fruit and produce agents, Manae street, report May 11 :— Fruit: Owing to cold boisterous weather the market is somewhat depressed, but a good demand exists for cooking apples. Prices as follows :— Apples : Cooking, lid to 2d ; eating sorts, slow sale, lid to 2Jd ; Tasmanian, 7s to Ste. Pears, : Cooking, 2d ; dessert, 2id to 3id. We have a fine line of Winter Nelis landed to-day. Oranges : Sydney, 5s 6d'-to 6s 6d ; D.E. Tahiti, 7s fid— loo cases in prime order landed to-day ; Islands, 5s to 6s. Lemons, 13s to Jss. Tomatoes, scarce, 4d. Grapes : Best, Is ; medium, 6d to 9d ; inferior, difficult to place. Walnuts, best Akaroa, 5Jd to
6d. New figs in bags. New dates of best quality in stock. Landed this week 430 cases fruit. Produce.— Eggs hardly obtainable and 'price risen considerably. Butter : Fresh,' supply not so good, any forward readily placed*; salt, we sold consignment this week at BJd (kegs oxtra) and can place prime at $)d. Bacon, good demand: Roll 5Jd to 6d ; flitch, 5d to s!d. Hams, 8d to Bid. Cheese : Akaroa. 3d to 4Jd ; dairy, 3Jd to 4id; factory, 4d to sid. Potatoes, 30s to 40s. Carrots, 255. Onions, L3ss to L3 loa. Poultry is readily placed at fair prices. Honey, 4d to 44d . Beeswax, Is Id.
