Fat Cattle,— A. large entry, 253 head yarded, mostly light-weights and medium quality. Bidding was quiet, with a fall of 5s to 10s a head fi'om last week. -Bullocks sold at L4 l7s 6d to L 8; cows, L 3 15s to L6 lss. We yarded 85, and sold as follows : —For Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co. (Gladbrook), 8 polled heifers at L6 lss ; for Messrs Jas. Smith and Sons (Greenfield), 16 bullocks at Lsl7s 6d to L 8 (top to-day), 4 heifers at L 5 to L 6; for Mr A. Douglas, 11 bullocks L 5 17s 6d, 7 cows L 4 ss; for Mr W, Lindsay (Greytown), 7 heifers at L4 lss ; for Mr David Sutherland (East Taieri), 9 bullocks to L 7; for Mr Thos. Kirk (East Taieri), 3 heifers, L4 los to L 6 ; for Mr H. Palmer (Otakia) 10 bullocks at L 5 10s ; for Mr R. Shennan (Ber wick),loatLC2s6d. Fat Sheep.— A fair supply in ; 2200 penned, including 250 good merino wethers, the crossbreds were mostly a prime lot. Bidding was brisk, with an advance in prices (thanks to a northern feeder, who bought freely). Crossbred wethers sold'atJ3B6dtol7s 9d, crossbred ewes 11s 6d to 16s, merino wethers 9s to 11s. We sold 825, as follows :— For Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co. (Gladbrook), 30 crossbred wethers at 16s 3d to 17s 9d (top price), 3Q crossbred ewes 16's (top price) ; for Mr" W. Hare (Clarendon), 121 grand two-tooth crossbreds" at 15s to 16s ; for the New Zealand and Australian Land Company (Edendale), 60 three-quarter-bred ewes 12s to 15s 6d ; for Mr R. .Paters'on, jun. (Hillend), 41 two-tooth crossbreds, 14a 9d ; for Mr A. Douglas, 35 crossbred ewes 12s 6d, 49 merino wethers 10s 9d to lls ; for Mr Donald M'Donald, 109 crossbred owes at 14s ; for Mr A. H. ' Freehold Farms.— We direct attention to the sale of Mrs Kirby's land, which will take place at our stores on Saturday next, at noon sharp. - Grain.— Wheat has been dealt in lightly, only prime sorts finding favour at last quotations. Other qualities, are dull and difficult to place. We quote : Prime milling, 3s 8d to 3s lid ; extra, '4s to -4s' ld; ordinary milling, 3s 4d to 3s 7d; inferior, 2s 9d to 3s 3d ; good seconds, 2s 6d to 3s 3s 4d, -' Oats : A rather brisker demand for bright nulling lines, with a slight rise in values; other sorts quiet, with, values stationary. We quote : Milling, Is s?d to Is 6id ; bright feed, Is 5d to Is sid ; other sorts, Is 4d to Is 5d (all bags paid for). Barley : Pr}me pale-coloured malting steadily advancing in value ; other sorts also firmer. We quote : Best, 3s> to 3s 6d ; mediivm, 2s 6d to 2s lid ; inferior, 2s to 2s 3d (all bags paid for). Oaten Chaff .—Best, 45s to 50s ; medium, 403 to 42s 6d ; inferior. 30s to 37s 6d. » " -' Potatoes. — Prime Derwents, 42s 6d to 47s 6d ; others, 37s 6d to 40s per ton. 1 Ryegrass Seed. — Dressed, 3s 3d to 3s 9d ; farmers', 2s to 3s.
