May 9. — The regular meeting of the Road Board was held at Highcliff on Saturday, and attended by Messrs Stuart (chairman), Fairbairn Reikie, and Murray.— The matter of dealing with the obstructions on Inglis' road was ordered to lie over for another month,— A letter was received from the clerk of the Portobello Road Board referring to (he closing of the roads on the Hon. W. J. M. Larnach's property. — It was resolved to draw the attention of the constable to the practice of certain settlers of using sledges on the public roads. The metal tenders were dealt with, when the following were accepted :— Joseph Bryant : Ferguson's road, 45yds, at 4s 3d ; No. 1 road, Highcliff, 150 yds, at 4s 3d ; Vauxhall, 50yds, at 4s 3d ; Portobello Church to 41 peg road, 200 yds, at 4s 3d; No. 3 road, Highcliff, 25yds, at 4s 3d; Edmonds road, 70yds, at 4s 3d. Robert Henderson ; 2Wyds for Soiuerville's road, at 3s 9d. Reikie and Gill : 200 yds from Bay Church to 41 peg road, at 3s BJd ; 20yds at Ponsonby's road, at 4s 2d
