SOUTHLAND RACES.
Invehcakgill, April 6. The Southland Racing Club's Autumn meeting did not attract many spectators, about 400 only being present. The totalisator put through only L 605, as against Lllß4 last year. The racing was very tame, except in the Steeplechase. The weather was fine, with a strong wind. Results :—
Autumn Handicap. One mile and a-half.— May King, 9.0, 1 ; Victory, 8.2, 2. Only the two started. Time, 2min 50 2-ssec. Dividend, LI 7s. Maiden Race and Novel Race.— Won by Mr Reid s Isman.
Steeplechase. Two miles and a-lmlf.-Mr Mason's Clown, 10.10, 1 ; Aparima, 11.0, 2. Only the two started. Time, 6min ISsec. Dividend, L 2 4s.
Flying Stakes. Six furlongs.— Mr Lawson's Matamata 1. Gardenia was the only other starter. Time, lmin 22sec. Dividend, LI 6s. Three-mile Trot.— Joss won but was disqualified, and the stakes awarded to Silver Bell, paying L 2 7s. Time, 9min 29 3-ssec. Myross Bush Handicap Ono mile and a-quarter.— May King 1, Matamata 2, Juno 3, Time, 2inin 19 l-ssec. Dividend, LI 11s.
