LATE MINING.
MANAGERS' REPORTS. The mine manager of the Amalgamated Waipoi i Deep Lead Gold Mining Company (Limited) re ports for the week ending 2nd April, as follows :— The bottom of the gutter is still widening, and is carrying to its full width apparently the same quality of wash which I have had all along the bottom, excepting that a considerable portion of it is of a very hard cemented nature. I washed up last Saturday with the result already wired. The unusually hard nature of the wash above referred to is the cause of a slight reduction from our usual average yield." The manager of the Roxburgh Amalgamated Mining and Sluicing Company reports for the week ending the 2nd inst., as follows :—: — '* Both elevators have been working full time, less the usual stoppage for washing down and to put a new liner in No. 1 elevator. The return from No. 1 was not up to what I expected. We are apparently putting through a strip of dirt between the top run aud the lower run, which is very poor. I expect it will take me about a fortnight or so to get through it, when I know we shall come on to a better wash than that we are treating at present. Washed down No. 1 on Thursday 36'oz 13dwt 4gr for 309 hours. I shall wash down No. 2on Thursday or Friday next. I am pleased to hear that there is a probability of the dam wall being finished to a certain extent, f,or no one knows better than myself the loss it is to the coinpnny in having to shut down every now and again."
The Sew Hoy Big Beach Gold Mining Company (Limited) have paid the balance of the purchase money due by them to the Shotovcr Big Beach Gold Mining Company (Limited), and it is considered most likely that the (3000 shares (unallotted), on which the Shotover company hoid a lien, will be cancelled.
