NOTES BY JACK.

I learn from the Jpoal papers that the tenth annual meeting of the Oamaru Bowling Club was held on Fridayjlast, Mr Mollison (president) in the chair. The following report was read by the Seoretary :— "The committee have pleasure in congratulating the members on having passed another successful and pleasant season. The club now enters upon its second decade, and though it does not register so many members aa at one time it did before the establishment of the second local club, it ia praiseworthy to find that nearly all the old members are loyal and liberal in their support, and very - enoouraging to note that we have welcomed to bur ranks several new members who give promise of being good players and useful associates. The 1890 91 season waa opened on the 15th October, and olosed on April 16. During this period we played eight matches with other clubs, winning five and losing three. Among the latter was our match with Canterbury Club for the association's medal, which was played on Captain Marshall's green, Chriitohuroh, on the 20th February. Besides these matches the club was engaged in the tournament games at Ohrifltchuroh and at Oamaru. At the latter oontest our players were 'able to appropriate the medals awarded to the winning team in the game North v. South, The ohampion prise was won this year by Mr Robert Lemm, whose name has been added to the ' Sorbll of Fame,' an ornamental and useful record presented to the club by Mr Dowling. The prizes given by the president and secretary were won by Mr Dowling and Mr Martin, and the private prize given by Mr Gemmell was won by Messrs Fleming and Martin. Owing to the liberality of members the treasurer is again able to abow a balance on the right side. The statement annexed^shows jtotal expenditure £55 14s 9d and total receipts £59 19s 6d, leaving a balance to carry forward. The committee trust that this oredifable state of affairs will continue." A votejof thanks to the retiring officers was pawed, and the following gentlemen ware' elected for'the ensuing year ;— President, Mr Gemmell ; secretary and treasurer, Mr Dowling!; committee— Messrs Cunningham, Kennedy, and Martin ; representatives on association's committee— Messrs Dowling and M'Pherson. A resolution was carried enabling the ohampion for one year to oompete for the same position the next year. A special vote ofthanks was acoorded to Mr Fleming for his kindness in allowing a second entrance to the green to be made through his property, and 4 to Captain Turpie for superintending the work on the green.
