CLINTON.
Mabch 24. — The weather here at present and for some time past has been very severe— wlndrrain, and snow in abundance, the high mountains being covered with snow nearly to their baße.
Agricultural— Harvest work has been greatly retarded, and doubtless gome of the orop mutt have suffered by being shaken. The farmers here have no grounds to crumble at the means placed within their reach to sell and buy stock, as there are no fewer than four auctioneering firms attending to their wants in this respect, each of whom has its lesser satellites who revolve round in their orbits advancing the olaims of their respective firms to the willing ear of the settler. They all seem to prosper, notwlt hstanding their number. Baibbit Fbesbrvdtg.— The rabbit factory Is now in full swing, although the company could; take more rabbits than they are receiving at present. Most of the farmers are busy with the harvest, and the weather being bad has a great deal to do with the limited supply, I have no doubt. Mr Wilson, the manager, is moßt energetic in his work, attending to all the branches of the business with tbe greatest care.
Amusements.— A concert took place in the hall on Sfc. Patrick's Bye in aid of the funds of the Koman Catholic Church. In the absence of the pastor, Mr Goghlan officiated sb chairman. The attendance>as very fair, but a good many of the performers who were to take part were unable to be present — a fact which had the effect of spoiling the concert to a certain extent. The vocal and instrumental pieceß were very oreditably performed. I would Biggest, however, that while the performers (especially ladies) are engaged the audienca should give them every consideration and show a little more of the spirit of fair play, instead of, as was the case with a section of the audience, the reverse.
Health Note —Whooping cough is raging among the younger portion of the community at present. Bunny's Enemies.— Ferrets and wild oats are very plentiful on Mr Logan's property, and no doubt they w 11 tend in a great measure to keep the rabbits in check in future. Altogether I should think there will be no more cases in the B M. Court for not keeping rabbits down, what with the factory close at hand and the animals referred to.
