WHITECOMBE.

Maboh 14.— We have had a splendid assortment of weather, and not too much of any one kind. The consequence is there is plenty of grass on the ranges for cattle and sheep, while the gardens are overflowing with vegetables of all kinds for the nobler animal man. The small fruit— £ c., currants and gooseberries— owing to late frost in the spring, were a comparative failure. Babbits are as plentiful as ever, and although fchey^will be considerably reduced when the fur season sets in, sufficient will be left to multiply, as in former years, to furnish the following season with its quota of fur. The Timbeb Industby.— Taking timber from this bush by bullock team is an accomplished fact, a team of 14 bullocks owned by D. Parker and Sont, of Roxburgh, having just left with a load of laths for White's reef. This will be good news for the Alexandra people, and the settlers and miners of the Molyneux Valley in general, who may thank the Messrs Parker for their energy and pluck in supplying them with a much-felt want, for on account of the muddle made of the road over the range, it was considered impassable. I might write a good deal about the history of this road, but will content myself for the present by saying that I saw the plan and specifications for the road, and had they been adhered to the road would have been a good one, but unfortunately it was not made in accordance therewith.
