Small Birds. TO THE EDITOR.
Sir,— The small birds are at present naturally attracting a great deal of attention. I have tried poisoned grain, but with little effect. I am of opinion that if thfl couutiej wero to strike a small bird rate, at.d to ofi^r a small sum of money for each hundred head destroyed, there would be plen'y of ptople willing enough to destroy them. I had at my own plice one year as mar.y birds as would have eaten up the whole of the crops in the district, but it so happened that Mr Charles Bills, the bird-dealer, wanted some birds at the time, so he came out with some nets and got a cartload of them in a vc-ry ehort time for that s^-ason of the year. I only satv two or three after be had left, and I am convinced that tbat U the easiest and simplest way to reduce their numbers, aud if the counties would take the matter in baDd and communicate with Mr Bills be would no doubt (rive them all tho information that ia necessary.—Yours truly, Geobge Henry. Pigeon Bay, March 16.
