LAND BOARD.

Tha weekly maeting of the Land Board was held on Wedneßday, and attended by Messrs Maitland (chief commissioner), Duncan, Dallas, and Clark. Huns 220 and 220b.— The general manager for B. Campbell and Sons asked for a reduction in the rent of runs 21Q aud 220b, under clause 113 of the act, in proportion to the areas taken for occupation licenses and special claims under tbe Goldfielda acl,.— License of run 23 ) to bo revoked over an area of 43 acres granted to Daty and M'Jfamara under occupation lic3n3e; annual ren f al to be reduced by £1 03 lOd. License of run 220b to ba revoked over area of 50 acres granted no special olaim to W. Hausen aud others ; annual rental reduced by £1 4s. Arrears of Übnt.— The Receiver of Lund Revenue intimated that tho arrears of rent on small grazing runi for the half-year ending September 1 last, mentioned by him on February 10. had all been paid up with the .exception of the rent owing by J remiah Drummey. —To be forfeited for nonpayment of rent ; ranger to make valuation for improvements. Jane Nevlll was reported to bo in arrear of rent In respect to her section, and her hutband wrote stating tbat he »ai willing to let the license be forfeited—To be informed that surrondcr of section will be accepted on payment of arrears of rent within one month. Simpson on behtlf of Thomai Millar, to occupy a small portion of the river land adjoinlog sections 21, 22, and 24, Kelso, recommended that ttn application he refused, as the land referred to was tha only place available for camping stock that were travelling —The application was declined EQQbehnvai.b. — Banger Hnghan, in reporting on the application of W. D. Smith to have perpetual lease section 11, blook IV, Greenvale distriot. notified for settlement at 1D» per acre, stated that D. Currie, the lessee, bad not been beard of for 12 months, that the land been partly fenced, from 20 to 30 acres cultivated, and there was a small hut on the land.— License forfeited for non-compliance with conditions of lease ; ranger to make valuation of improvements, and also to suggest price for notification. IVaipobi. — Banger Hnghan reported on an applloition by Mr Edward Tohill for the licenie of three acreß of bush land at Waipori, and recommended that he be granted a lease for three years at £1 per acre.— License to be granted for three years at a rental of £1 per aore, payable in advance. Tbviot.— Mr W. L. Simpson applied, on behalf of Matthew EHott, the lessee of section 46, btook 11, Teviot district, to purchase 10 acre* of land in the said section, in order to secure his house and wool shed.— The application was declined. Bock and Pillar— Mr Vincent Pyke again applied that section 4, blook XI, Book and Pillar district, be reduced from 15b to 10a per aore, the section having been open since September at the former rate.— Banger Hughan to report ay to tbe value of the section in question. The Chief Surveyor forwarded a plan of the following lands in block XIII, Bock and Pillar, and suggested prices as stated below :— Seotion 1, 533 acres, 13s fld ; section 2, 220 acres, 12s 6d ; seotion 3, 520 acres, 15s ; section 4, 560 aores, 15s ; seotion 5, 684 aores, 12s 6d ; seotion 6, 16 aores, camping reserve; seotion 7, 19 acres, education reserve; section 8, 10 aores, quarry reserve.— To be notified at the prices recommended by the surveyor. Shototsb.— Ringer M'Kenzie wrote stating that John Brown, lessee of section 43, block V, Shotove r, had agreed to pay baok rent due by him after harvest.— Time to be allowed as requested, Banger M'Kenzie to be instructed to collect rent at time specified; failing which to report to the board at once. Banger M'Kenzie called the board's attention to the fact that Mrs Sarah A. Birley had been in arrear in ths payment of her rent on license 320 since August 6, 1886, and that the rent of her lease 339 was In arrear since December 9, 1886.— T0 be informedtbat if all rent . due is not piid within one month from date tbat steps will be at once taken to recover same. Maniototo Distbict.— An application by Emily Jane Coram to transfer perpetual lease'seotiona 11 and 12. block XlV,;Mauiototo district, to John B. Coram was granted. " , . Swtnb jbv.— D. Dalphin applied to transfer small grazing run section 1, block XIII, Swinburn, to David Munro. — Declined. - , Completion op; DbfbbbkD' Payments. —The followlog applications to complete deferred payments were approved :— Samuel Shearing, section 24, block XI, Cookston ; Patrick Blearoh, sec' loa 1, blook X, Maniototo. Exemption from Besidence.— William Currie asked to be exempted from residence on bis , small grazing run. as he resided on hie freehold within a distance of 10 miles from the run. — The request was granted. Woodlands - Messrs Harming aud others requested that 1297 acres adjoining the coal reserve in blook XI, Woodlands, be withheld from sale, pending their prospecting it for coal. — Area referred to to be withheld from sale until information is obtained as to its coal bearing character. Bevaxuation of Lands.— The saleiman (Mr Obalmer) submitted for consideration a list of nameß of persons who applied to have their lands revalued, and wbo had b°eu reported by the rauger an not having complied with tbe conditions of tbeir leases or licenses, and whose applications had been delayed in consequence.— Banger Hughan to report as soon as possible as to lessees' compliance with conditions of leases, this being a condition precedent to their obtaining benefit of revaluation. ' Oamabit.— Mr 0. Martin, writing with referenoe to Messrs Kelly and fiobertson s application, and B. Wilson's application for portion of road line south of section 48, block 111, Oamaru district, ' for 'quarry purposes, stated tbat the ranger had effected a compromise, and asked that the matter be considered. — To stand over until a report is received from Banger Hughan. ________^______
