Notes from Wakatipu. ( FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)

Arrow, March H.— A report is in circulation to the effect that a quartz reef of great riohuess has been discovered at Mount Criffel. Particulars and confirmatory news, however, are not yet to hand. Trial crusbings made have given very good remits. The Frankton Beach dredge is doing fairly well, Mr Ford, the dredgemaster, has obtained 40oz of retorted gold, the result of 12 days' dredging, and claims the result as due to the gold saving apparatus adopted, holding that the prospects obtained on the olalm (the Golden Link) are no better than those got by the dredges lower down stream. The Honeshoe Bend dredge is supposed to be doing pratty well, and it is to be hoped that tbe report is true. As the dredge is in the hands of tributors news Is not so freely circulated as would otherwise be the oase. The Gallant Tip have finished the improvements to their crushing plant and have started crushing. The mine work so far as raising stone is concerned Is carried on upon the contraot system. The Sunrlte Company, Macefcown, are about cleaning up, and the cake is expected to be down to-day, or not later tban Monday. The battery bas been working very well of late, and a good cake Is looked forward to. In the stope of the new low adit a very strong body of quarts has been met with, and whioh prospects exceedingly well.
