Winton.

Among remarkable sights I must mention Winton. This town is remarkable for the depth of mud in the streets and roads. Being there in the winter I saw , it to its greatest advantage in this respeot. In Invercargill I was told that it was easy to tell Winton people when they came to town, by their walk. They will at times stop quite mechanically, and move the foot as if attempting to shake off an adhesive burden of clay.
