Novkmdeii 7.— The general election ia beginning to cause a little oxoitement. Mr Soobie Mackenzie .md Mr Vincent Pyke are the present candidates for ilin Mount Ida dlstriot. Mr Mackenzie has repreuentHd the district for rrany years, and is considered to have a good chance, but at the mmc time Mr Pyke is equally fortunate in the district he formerly represented ; therefore there is no doubt the contest will be a very keen one. Lambing.— Lambing has been very favourable in bhii district, the result being a large percentage, and the mortality very low. Farming.— Owing to the fine spring weather grass is very plentiful. Farmers have been very buiy thli
season. Oats and potatoes are mostly, in, and seem to be showing up well. Horseflesh. -Mr Aliok Mackay has arrived with Rajah, and he informs me he has every prospeot of a good season . Bunny - Poor unfortunate bunny has had a rough time of it this season, poisoning having been very successful ; and now is the time for the squatters and farmers to persevere, if they want to keep them in check.
