Borne of the bridges on the road between hore and Wyndham have to be reuewed this year, and the ono over the Waimahaka was pulled down and a temporary bridge erected just before the Imd wOßthor tot In. The amonnt of rain that has Iftllflii has chanced the oreek into a sea. which covers Mm whole of the Hat, and as the approaches to the temporary bridge have given way, traffic is entirely tuispunded. The coach has not been able to get through since last Monday, but passengers and mails Imd boriii brought, noross until Friday, when even t.Ue. mall could not, be sent ivorosß
Klkctions.— Mr Raymond .and Mr -H. Carnwell were on tlm " slump " hnre, and have had to take to the brtck country to get on to the other parts of the dlst.tiot. Mr Oarswell has held meetings at Wynilham Valley, II ikonui, and Fortrose; Mr Raymond at Tokomii, Orarn, and Wyndhnm, and the p >11 takes nlace on Wednesday. The next. <?xo!tement will be the Parliamentary elections. The ball will be set a-rolllng on Sunday next by a Mr P. R. fahey, of no one knows where. Hit first meeting is booked for a Sunday, and liis lust for the same day of the week. Our own G.F will be here shortly. Praotloallj the election will bea walk-ovar for him.
