The annual report showed that the amateur definition of the Australasian colonies was not yet uniform, but it was hoped that it would be adjusted before long. The report showed that tbe number of clubs affiliated to the association had increased from 18 to 23, but still the entries for the championship races had fallen off. The balance-sheet showed the assets to bo £18, with liabilities ntf, while the association bad a credit balance of £5. It was decided

that all four championship races be decided at one regat'a It was rcholved that the next regatta be held at Auckland, amendments that Wanganui or Nelson should ba selected for championships being negatived. The rule defining " juniors " was altered so as to enable juniors to row for two seasons, by 23 to 14. Ife was resolved that in future the Champion Fours be rowed in coxswain boats, also that the course for the Champion Fours be two miles; while that for Sculls, Double Sculls, and Pairs be a mile and a-half. It was decided to publish " The New Zealand Rowing Alliance," 400 copies having already been guaranteed. Officers for the ensuing year were appointed as follows :— Patron, Lord Onslow; president, A. de B. Brandon (Star Club, Wellington); vice-presi-dents, F. Frask (captain Wakatu Club, Nelson) and H. Thomson (Captain Union Rowing Club Christchurch); secretary, Mr Barnett (Star Club, Wellington). It is generally considered that the selection of Auckland for the next regatta has been done with a view to the encouragement of outrigger rowing there. Nearly all the Southern clubs supported Auckland.
