TRADES AND LABOUR. LABOUR TROUBLES IN ENGLAND.
SERIOUS DOCK STRIKE. London, August 20. The Dockers Union is full, and they announce that they will not admit additional members. The delegates to the Dock Labourers' Congress advocate legislation for eight hours as a day's work. The labourers in the rural districts are being organised to prevent the flooding of the towns with labour. A systematic boycott of the anti-union employers is being established. August 19. A serious strike of dock labourers has taken place at Tilbury docks, the men demanding the exclusion of three non-unionists. ' The strike among Cardiff dockers has been virtually settled. At a meeting at St. James' Hall, a Standing Conciliation Committee was proposed to discourage the emigration of men to Australia during the strike there.
