August 18.— One is constantly being greeted with the remark, " What grand weather we are having for this time of year." The winter has been extremely mild, and the fre&h appearance that grass paddocks have maintained during the season indicates the absence of severe weather. The present weather is all that could be desired for advancing spring work, and sowing has commenced on several farms. Early sowing seems to be most productive here, and when grain is *o low In price farmers require to expend all their skill and experience in raising it to the best advantage.
