Report of the Bubcommittee of the Dunedm Jockey Olub appointed to consider the ruleß of the New Zealand Trotting Assooiation. Your oommittee beg to report that they have gone oarefully through the rules of the New j Zealand Trotting Association, under whioh it io proposed that all trotting races in New Zealand shall in future be held, and having before them a letter from Mr J. S, Williams (under date 21st June), president of the said association, in which it is stated, " we (shall be pleased to adopt any amendments you may thick neoessary to make the rules complete," beg to recommend as follows : — 1, That the rules of the New Zealand Trotting Association, which came into force on Ist day of July 1890, be adopted by the Dunedin Jookey Club, subject to the following alterations and amendments :— Rule 2. Amendment: Metropolitan clubs, which only include one or more trotting races in their programmes, shall pay an affiliation fee of £1, and a subsequent annual subscription of £1. Country clubs holding: under metropolitan clubs, which only includo one or more trotting races in their programmes, shall pay an affiliation fee of £1 and no annual Bubacription. Rule 7, After the -yord " events," on the first line of page 2, to add the words—' 8 aiid who shall have all tbo powers given to this association," provided, &o. Rule 16. Section 3. To alter as follows :— " Race includes plate, match, or sweepstake, but does not include or refer for the purpose of these rules to any other than trotting races." Rule 32a, Value of a race. To add the follow-
ing words :~-"The value of a race shall,' unless otherwise specified, he taken to be the amount aotually payable to the winner." Rule 74. To add the words— "And should any one of his horses running in the race inter* fere with any other horses so as to prevent tbat, or any other person's horso, from winning, such horse and all horses belonging to him shall | be disqualified." Rule 79. Horses breaking between the words " shall " and " pull " on the second line to add the words " at once," so as to read " shall at once pull." Rule 80. Between the words " horse " and " breaking " in the first line to add the word •'repeatedly," so as to read "repeatedly breaking." , . , , Rule lo2.,objeotfonßiand .complaints. To alter the words, ** five.minutes" into " 16 minutes," 8,0 as to correspond with' the New" Zealand Metrqpohtan^Rules of RScing ' and the rules for working the totaliaator. , , Rute 86a. New rule. The clerk of the Bcalea shall, if requested, in addition to the correct weight, put 14lb into the scaleß before passing the jockey to Bee that he has carried oorreot weight in accordance with Rule 58, Rule 122. To add the words atthe end of the rule, " while the disqualification is in force." Rule 127 a. New rule. In the absence of any speoial agreement, the fee for a winning rider or driver shall be £5, and to a losing rider or driver £3, and no further oharge (except for expenses) shall be allowed. Rule 141.
