Wakatipu and Kawarau Dredging.

TO THE EDITOB. Sib,— I notice that a large number of share in the different dredging claims in that district are to be sold by auction on Saturday. As a very large number of persons of limited means have invested their earnings in the different companies, I desire to draw attention to the following facts, which may keep such persons from sacrificing their interests without cause. In the first place none of the claims have had any work of consequence done on them ; defective appliances have been the rule, which both the contractor and directors are using every effort to remove. New and powerful boilers are being pjaoed in those requiring them, when ample steaming power will be available. J was personally on the ground when « large.

number of trials of washdirt was tried, and I also (on behalf of personal friends) tried a number of quite independent samples of washdirt, both from above, on a level, and below the water line ; in every case I saw, and got payable prospects. Having a knowledge of what a dredge can do when once fairly at work, I feel sure that they will pay steady and good dividends, and in spite of the late serious fall in dredging shares, believe them to be of more aotual value now than ever they were, being nearer a dividend paying point, and strongly advise those, who, on my recommendation, took any interest in them to Bell not one at a loss. — I am, &c, July 8.
