Sib,— A letter appeared in your issue of the 3rd inst. signed •» Spectator," calling into question certain statements made in an extract from a letter written by me to the Lake County journals. Had the writer been more of the spectator and less of •' something else " he would never have penned his effusion. I decline to reply further to a correspondent! who shelters himself under an alias whilst administering a stab in the dark, but when he will come out into the open lam quite prepared for him. — I am, &c., July 4.
