WARDENS COURT.

Friday, July 4. (Before Mr B. H. Carew, Warden.) John Carter, Arthur Kenny, S. Stevens, and John Bowling applied for a right to construct a tail race near the junction, Game Hen, -Styles creek, the length of such tail race being 50 chains.— Granted. The same party applied for an extended alluvial claim comprising about four acres on a flat in Styles creek, Hindon distriot.— Granted. The same party made application for the right to construct a water race to direct and use water for mining purposes, commencing at a poiat in Styles creek immediately below the junction of Game Hen Gully, the length of the race to be 60 chains.— Granted. John Stewart Reid applied for a prospeoting area for dredging on the Taieri river, Hindon district, commencing on the said river 60 chains above the junction of By creek with the said river as one of its eastern tributaries, and extending down the said river 100 chains

below the junction of By creek.— Application granted. Mr E.A.Joel appeared for George Johnson, and applied for a prospeoting area for dredging on the Taieri river, Hindon distriot, commencing 20 chains above the junction of Three o'clock creek with the said river as one of its tributaries, and extending down the said river 140 chains ; the total length thus being 160 chains. Mr E. A. Joel, on behalf of Arnold Sturm, applied for a special claim on the Taieri river, near • Mullocky Gully. Mr Maltby, on behalf of the Railway department, notified that if the claim were granted as surveyed it might interfere with the railway line. — It was decided to recommend the granting of the claim to the Minister, subject to the department deducting certain portions along the bank where it might interfere with the Railway department. Mr John Mouat, on behalf of Philip Payne, Alfred Davis, and John Wilson, applied for a prospecting claim in No. 2 Creek, Coal Island, Preservation Inlet.— Application granted. Mr Henry Seymour applied for a proteotion certificate for three months for his alluvial claim situated at Waikouaiti river, north branch. Granted. Mr Henry North (who was represented by Mr North, jun.) applied for a speoial claim of 120 acres, block X, Button district, for gold dredging purposes. Mr John Allen Boyd (for whom Mr Bathgate appeared) objected to the application being granted, because it interfered with the working of his run.— The warden withheld his decision until the survey of the area applied for was received. The Bame party applied for a right to construct a water race to divert and use water for mining purposes, commencing at Deep stream, six miles above the junction of the Dunstan road and Deep stream, and taking in four side streams, the length of the race to be eight miles. Granted.
