Eight men from the Kakanui Bowling Olub played eight men from the Maheno Club on two carpets at the Maheno Publio Hall on Thursday evening. Play commenced at 7.30 and continued until 10 p.m. The Maheno Olub wae captained by Meßsra J. Newlands and H. Andrews, and the Kakanui Olub by Messrs S Burns and J. Meikle. The Maheno Olub was [ultimately victorious by six points. The visitors were afterwards entertained by the Maheno Olub to a substantial supper, which put them all in good trim for their journey home. Several toasts and songs were given by both toamß. It was then proposed that the return match be played about a month from date, when the visitors hoped to be ablo to reverse the victory. The meeting ended with the singing of " Auld lang syne, after a very pleasant evening.—Oamaru Mail.
