LAKE COUNTY.
Junb 16.— We have experienced some of the discomfotta without any ot the material benefits of winter, the weather being bleak, cold, and unsettled, and of that kind so aptly described as neither wet nor dry. The Saltation Army, who have barracks at Queenatqwn,' have evidently, oome to stay, and by a i f reqiirat change of officers they keep themselves pretty ■ mu'cfi'en evidence. They visit the outlying districti < at regular intervalo, and are quite as hard workings a* the pastors of, the older and more orthodox" churches.
The Qitkbnstown 1 Debating Society has been licked into shape, ruleß have been adopted, members enlisted, and the talk set agoing. Hotels.— lt seems that about half n do^eri ohurohei are considered enough for our spiritual welfare, but it takes something like 30 publio houses to administer to our bodily comforts. It is certainly true that we are a scattered people, but that also was the caße some 20 years ago when the population was 10 times what it is no w, and the number of the public houses no more than it is at present.
