The start w»b not a good one, and Honeydew. Magnus, and Insignia were smartest on their legs. Making moat of his advantage, Honeydew lod on to Outts', where Pet Girl headed him, and appeared at the front for a few strides, but as they flashed past Oxenham's Insignia, against the rails, took up the running, and showed clear from Hilda, Pet Girl, and Magnus, wto were succeeded by Moscow, Mantilla, Kingsley, Swing, and Eclipse, while Tartar, who had been running put wide, and Lancer were acting as whippersin. Mantilla and Magnus went up second and third at the back of the course, and when passing the six-furlong poet weio within half a length of the leader, with Hilda, Eveline, Pet Girl, and Moscow tiring, while Swing, Kingsley, andEclipßebeganto improve their position. Making every post a winning one, Insignia and Magnus raced up the slight incline and past the five-furlong post on terms, and immediately in their wake could ba seen Mantilla, Eveliae, Kingsley, Swing, and Eclipse, but the Victorian filly was in difficulties and cried enough a little further on. Magnus headed Insignia when half way round the bend, but the latter again got on terms, and it was hard to tell whioh entered the straight first. Both were well dear of the distressed Mantilla, who here gave way to Eclipse and Jack. Magnus just Bbowed in front for five strides, but Insignia, fighting the battle right loyally, caught him again and outpaced him at the half distance. She had no sooner done so than Oleal brought Eclipse with a great rattle, and dashing him up on the inside, outpaced and out-stayed the other two finishers, and won a pretty race by a length and a-quarter from Insignia, who had Manguß at his girths, with Jack, Federation, and the Queen almost on terms, and succeeded by Lancer, Moscow, Antaeus, Pet Girl, Kingsloy, Swing, Sir William, Muriel, and Eveline, while the last to finish were Honeydew and Antelope.
