The customs revenue collected for the March quarter was :— Auckland, £87,192 ; Wellington, £69,445 ; Lyttelton, £71,005; Dunedin, £106,817; —total for the colony, £399,965. The total for the corresponding quarter of 1889 was £368,332. For the year the revenue (including primage duty) was :— Auckland, £316,403; Wellington, £273,855; Lyttelton, £261,675; Dunediu, £387,514;— t0tal for the colony, £1,500,650. The postal revenue for the March quarter was :— Auckland, £6317 ; Christchurch, £6126 ; Wellington, £5688 ; Dunedin, £5772;— t0tal for the colony, £63,245. The total for the corresponding quarter of 1889 was £58,899. The telegraph revenue wan : — Auckland, £4271 ; Christchurch, £4461 ; Wellington, £5044; Dunedin, £4919 ;— total for the colony, £29,206. The total for the corresponding quarter last year was £28,664. Government telegrams to the value of £5853 were sent as against £7144 for the corresponding quarter of 1889. During the quarter ended March, 43,720 money orders representing £149,581 were issued, and 31,097 representing £138,660 paid. In the Savings Bank there were 42,168 ' deposits against 26,555 withdrawals. The amount deposited was £408,946, and the withdrawals £397,934. The excess of deposits over withdrawals was £11,012. During the quarter 43,455 postal notes were sold amounting to £16,548. For the corresponding quarter of 1889 39,318 were sold representing £15,008. The numbpr paid last quarter was 43,365 amounting to £16,234, as against 39,172 of the value of £14,743 for the corresponding quarter. The quantity and value of gold entered for duty for exportation from New Zealand for the quarter ended March was as follows : —
The totals for the corresponding quarter of 1889 were 60,3910z, of the value of £239,877.
